This year, Ex Fabula has joined the 45+ Milwaukee area-nonprofits who are leading a coordinated effort to emphasize the importance of supporting our communities first through a campaign called Giving First on Tuesday, November 22nd.
Giving First day flips the script by encouraging philanthropy one week before Giving Tuesday, which traditionally falls after Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber-Monday shopping. Local nonprofits put the community first all year long and hope the community will put them first this giving season. Learn more about this initiative here: givingfirstday.org.
Throughout the year, Ex Fabula works to build connection within the Milwaukee community. Through the hosting of public events like StorySlams and workshops we bring people together to listen to and learn from each other. We provide youth programming to empower the next generation to understand the importance of their voice and give them a platform to share their unique perspectives, and we partner with organizations across the city, including many who are also taking part in Giving First, to create storytelling spaces where a diversity of voices can be heard.
Your support will help us to continue our work of building connection and community through storytelling.
Some examples of the way your contributions will be put to use:
- $10 covers a Pay-It-Forward ticket to a StorySlam.
- $25 provides a transportation stipend to BIPOC individuals attending Brave Space events.
- $60 is the cost of an individual Ex Fabula membership which includes tickets to StorySlams and membership perks. Contributions from Ex Fabula members support important equity and inclusion projects like the Deaf Stories Project and our Brave Spaces initiative.
- $300 covers ASL interpretation for one Ex Fabula event.
Our $1000 goal will contribute to supporting the programming listed above, creating more storytelling spaces, and lowering access barriers to members of the Milwaukee community to take part in those spaces.
