Hello, Ex Fabula community!

Iโ€™m Jasmine Gonzalez, and Iโ€™m thrilled to introduce myself to all of you as Ex Fabulaโ€™s new Marketing Manager!

Something youโ€™ll likely notice about me when you first meet me: I can be pretty quiet and shy in new situations and around new people. I know, I knowโ€“maybe not what youโ€™d expect from someone working in marketing and communications, right?

On the stage, however, I transform.

I caught the performance bug at church, of all places, and was a lector and choir soloist from the age of nine through my early twenties. As an adult, I discovered improv comedy (through which I met some of my closest friends and my now-husband!) and went on to co-found The Interchange Theater Co-Op in 2020. Iโ€™m also an alumna and volunteer with Ladies Rock MKEโ€“you can watch my performance with the band Magnetic Tripole here. And, finally, Iโ€™m always down for karaoke.

From firsthand experience, I know how impactful storytelling and performance can beโ€“finding my home on the stage connected me to my community and changed my life for the better. Iโ€™m excited to be joining the staff of Ex Fabula because I want others to find that spark for themselves and experience the thrill of finding their voices, especially when it might feel unlikely.

I love working in marketing and communications because I can use my skills to do for others the simple yet impactful things that I know have helped me. Whether itโ€™s writing, designing, or simply offering a ready ear and fostering genuine conversation and connection, I believe every aspect of communication work is an opportunity to make someone feel safe, welcome, and ready to dive into something new.

My role at Ex Fabula is to build greater awareness of the organization and increase community engagement in our programs. Moving forward, whenever you read one of our newsletters or social media posts (which you can currently find on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn), thatโ€™ll almost certainly be my words youโ€™re engaging with.

Thereโ€™s probably more I could say about myself, but hey, weโ€™ll have plenty of time to get to know each other. Come say hi to me at the next StorySlam you attend! If you need a conversation starter, I like talking about books, cooking, video games, sci-fi shows, and how much I miss the Salazar from the Vanguard menu.

All the best,

Jasmine
