In collaboration with HYFIN, this evening of live spoken word, poetry, and storytelling celebrates Black and Brown voices and brings together a blend of curated speakers with storytellers drawn from the audience.

This edition of AfterDark: For the Culture is a competitive StorySlam! At the end of the night, the audience votes by secret ballot to crown an Audience Favorite, who will be invited to share a story at ALL STARS in May.

Throughout the night, you can also submit an UltraShort. These are short stories (a few sentences) on the night’s theme that the emcee reads on stage. (They can be anonymous!)

Want to practice your story before the slam? Join us for the StoryStarter workshop from 5:45-6:45pm right before the event! Save your seat for the workshop HERE.
