Meet Ex Fabula’s new Marketing and Communications Associate!

Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI with roots in Mexico, Nicole is Chicana-first generation Mexican-American. Nicole has made it her life’s mission to preserve cultural practices and traditions by activating safe spaces in her hometown where people can connect to their experiences and identities. Whether through dance, visual art or written word, most of Nicole’s work reflects exploring identity through oral and visual storytelling.

Nicole holds a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing Management from Alverno College with a minor in Elective Studies and is also a dedicated student of Puerto Rican Bomba dance at the AfriCaribe Cultural Center in Chicago, IL and at Escuela de Bomba in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. She is a proud graduate of the Milwaukee High School of The Arts, and prior to her transfer to Alverno, spent years at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and Milwaukee Area Technical College studying photography.

As a multi-disciplinary artist, Nicole’s work has been exhibited throughout the city of Milwaukee, published locally and nationally and she has performed spoken word and dance abroad. In most recent years Nicole has devoted her life to art education for Milwaukee Public Theatre, Bembe Drum & Dance, Latino Arts, and Escuela Verde providing hands-on teaching and creating original curriculum focused on the restoration and preservation of Latinx cultural experiences and identity.

“As the new Marketing and Communications Associate, I am excited to support the existing and critical work taking place at Ex Fabula by contributing my creative ingenuity and I look forward to increasing Ex Fabula’s engagement & visibility throughout our city! When I am not in marketing & communications mode, you can find me spending time with my two children- Ayán and Vincent, DJ’ing with my crew- No Stress Collective, drinking lots of coffee, traveling and watching the new season of Insecure.” -Nicole
