This interactive workshop is for you! This workshop takes place directly before the AfterDark: For The Culture event and is meant to be a place to workshop a story you might want to tell on stage later that night. If you aren't ready to throw your name in the hat, no worries! This space is open to anyone who is interested in becoming a better storyteller, and is a perfect way for you to connect with other storytellers before our StorySlam! Take your storytelling to the next level by sharing on stage at AfterDark: For The Culture on February 12, 2026! Please note that your workshop ticket does NOT provide entry to the Slam.     AfterDark: For The Culture – A Night Celebrating Black and Brown Voices

    Date: Thursday, April 9 Time: Doors open at 6pm, stories begin at 7pm Location: Radio Milwaukee, 220 E Pittsburgh Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53204 Cost: Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Limited Pay-it-forward tickets available! In collaboration with HYFIN, this evening of live spoken word, poetry, and storytelling celebrates Black and Brown voices and brings together a blend of curated speakers with storytellers drawn from the audience. This edition of AfterDark: For the Culture is a competitive StorySlam! At the end of the night, the audience votes by secret ballot to crown an Audience Favorite, who will be invited to share a story at ALL STARS in May. Throughout the night, you can also submit an UltraShort. These are short stories (a few sentences) on the night’s theme that the emcee reads on stage. (They can be anonymous!) Want to practice your story before the slam? Join us for the StoryStarter workshop from 5:45-6:45pm right before the event! Save your seat for the workshop HERE.   • Celebrating the voices of our community's young people!

    Date: Thursday, April 16, 2026 Time: 5:00PM doors, 5:30PM stories Location: Greenfield Public Library, 5310 W Layton Ave, Greenfield, WI 53220 Ex Fabula StorySlams are live events where community members connect and share true, personal stories related to the night’s theme, told without props or notes. Come just to listen – or throw your name in the hat for a chance to share a true story! The audience can also be a part of the storytelling by submitting UltraShorts. These are “ultra-short” stories on the night’s theme that will be read onstage by the emcee. At the end of the night, the audience votes by secret ballot to choose an Audience Favorite and our secret judges will select a Judges Favorite!

    Date: Wednesday, April 8, 2026 Time: 5:00PM doors, 5:30PM start, 6:45PM end Location: Pilot Project Brewing Milwaukee, 1128 N 9th St, Milwaukee, WI 53233 This interactive storytelling session or "StoryShare" is an affinity space created for and led by Deaf community members. Join our Deaf storytelling coaches as they guide participants through fun activities designed to help you identify powerful personal stories, learn effective storytelling skills, and connect with other storytellers. If you're feeling ready to tell your story before an audience, you can put your name in the hat during the 7th Annual Deaf StorySlam! Buy your ticket for the StorySlam on April 26 here.
