Secret’s Out: New Year Spectacular Recap

Whether or not if it’s a secret between friends, spouses or one we keep to ourselves, the secrets we keep and share can ultimately reveal something about us and our humanity. Nearly 200 guests found out how little secrets can have a big impact in our lives at Alverno’s Pitman Theater for our New Year Spectacular with the theme “Our Little Secret.” This special, curated event featured various storytelling formats, and each teller had 10-minutes to share.

“Our Little Secret”: Meet the Storytellers, Part 2

Here it is, our last secret! (For now.) As many of you know, this Saturday, January 28th, Ex Fabula travels to Alverno’s Pitman Theatre for the New Year Spectacular with the theme “Our Little Secret.” Unlike our monthly Slams, this special event features 10-minute curated stories and is an afternoon (yep, a 3 pm show) not to be missed.

Fellowship Provides Unique Opportunity to Listen

The Ex Fabula Fellows are a unique group, coming from various demographic backgrounds and career fields throughout the Milwaukee area. After going through 6 weeks of storytelling workshops together this fall, the Fellows are now hosting interactive conversations around the city.  Scientific research shows that storytelling has the unique ability to meaningfully connect people and create conditions for empathy, and the Fellows are leveraging the power of story to address some of the most pressing issues in the Greater Milwaukee area – segregation, economic, and racial inequality.

Perfect Storm – Recap

December 14th–The first true breath of Wisconsin winter. The Wind Chill blew a bitter, bone-chilling cold, which seemed to only embolden the Ex Fabula audience to bundle up and face Old Man Winter for our December StorySlam (and the last of 2016), “Perfect Storm.”

As the crowd meandered into the Times Theater, there was an electricity in the air. While holiday tunes played overhead, strangers and friends chatted as audience members freed themselves from their protective layers and settled in for a night of love, laughter and loss.Continue reading “Perfect Storm – Recap”
